One God Conference Announcement
May 23rd, 2007 by Sean
Each year Ken Westby of the Association for Christian Development organizes a conference with the aim of working out the theology involved in the biblical unitarian view of God. It is the first task of religion to define who God is. Even so, there remains much confusion in Christendom on this subject. Unfortunately, many times emotions get in the way of honest inspection and comparison between competing models of understanding who God is. Historically non-trinitarians have been persecuted, exiled, and even burned at the stake for refusing to accept the “orthodox” creed hammered out in Nicaea in 325ad. Ken Westby has written two brief articles on this [part 1] [part 2] which I highly recommend if you are curious about the One God subject.
Previous conferences were held in Seattle, WA; Tyler, TX; Washington DC; Ackron, OH; and Atlanta, GA. This is the 6th annual conference and it is coming to Albany, NY. Living Hope Community Church will be hosting the event this year and all are welcome to come. There will be presentations by Anthony Buzzard, Victor Gluckin, Nathan Crowder, Sean Finnegan, Ken Westby, Gary Fakhoury, Noel Rude, F. Paul Haney, and several others (11 all together). Titles to be covered include “The Trinity Defined and Refuted,” “A Funny Things Happened on the Way to Christian Orthodoxy,” “Did Christ Create the Cosmos?” “Jesus, Son of God from Matthew and Luke,” “Open Theism,” “Identity Theft: how the true identity of the man Jesus has been stolen” and more.
Each year, an opposition speaker also presents in order to challenge and dialogue with the biblical unitarian perspective. This year David Sielaff will share on the title, “Elohim and THE Son of God” focussing on the pre-existence in relation to the sons of God. Questions are encouraged following each lecture which is often the most enlightening time. All are welcome to come, this event will surely be a fantastic opportunity to enter into dialogue with these fine theological minds, even if it does stretch us a bit.
The conference will run Friday through Sunday (June 8-10, 2007) starting at 8:30am on Friday. The cost is a mere $15 per person per day and a continental breakfast, refreshments, and lunch are included. If you need directions to LHCC, click here. If you need a listing of local hotels, click here. No registration is required prior to the event. Please tell anyone you know who may be interested.

Wow! This conference sounds like it will be AWESOME! Will CD’s and DVD’s be made available later?
Yes, we will have CD’s and DVD’s available, probably through Ken Westby and his ministry in Seattle. I’ll drop a note when they become available.
