Yahweh Everyones One God

Presented by Mark Bosserman at the One God Conference, Seattle WA May 31st 2008, commentary by John Obelenus.

Mark presents a smattering of ideas that deconstruct the common false ideas and patterns that we often encounter when talking about God. First that “God” is a title, not a name or person. We would do much better to write God’s name in the text instead of the english “God”. He moves on to Genesis and specifically points out the singular pronouns throughout. Mark makes a good argument about making implicit inferences instead of the explicit ones. He brings up a conversation where someone said that God needed to die to pay for all the sins of the world. And he asked which verse that was. None was offered. Mark continued, what was the payment for sin according to Moses. An unblemished lamb. Is Jesus an unblemished lamb? Yes. Then no need to make him God. The same goes for Jesus being the second Adam. Everyone recognizes this typology, there is no need to make an implicit assumption, stick with the explicit meaning.
