In a few weeks, June 6-8, we will be having an evangelism conference at Living Hope in Latham, NY. All are welcome to attend and can register online (click here). It should be a great time to dig in to the Scriptures to understand the biblical gospel and how it was preached. Then we will be working on the question of how to preach the same message in the context of 21st century western civilization. So far our schedule is as follows:
I’ve been a bit steeped into the conference lately, having written all those stream-of-conscience reviews of the papers. I was particularly struck by Ray Faircloth’s paper on predestination in Romans 9. It gave a very vivid and nuanced understanding of predestination based on the three metaphors/stories in the chapter. I would encourage all to check out the lecture and paper, as I would for all the presentations. Lennox’s presentation was also very pointed and well done. Between his and Chuck Jones, the conference was well balanced with pertinent pastoral information as well as theological truth.
Many of you may remember that Living Hope Community Church (Albany, NY) sponsored the One God Conference last year (click here for last year’s audios). This year the One God Conference will be held in Seattle, Washington from May 31 - June 1 (Saturday & Sunday). This is the seventh annual seminar which has focused on investigating the nature of the One God and His Son. Please attend what may be the most challenging and biblically informative meetings you have ever experienced. Twelve seminars will be presented from a variety of specialists on the most important topic a human could possibly study: Who is God and What is He like? Seminars will run from 8:30 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday. The location this year is the Embassy Suites Hotel-Seattle, 15920 W. Valley Hwy, Seattle (near the Sea-Tac International Airport). Though the conference will focus on issues related to biblical unitarianism, each year Ken does invite an opposition speaker to spice things up and keep us unitarians sharp.

This year there will be two theological conferences put on by people who share our understanding of God, Jesus, and the gospel of the kingdom.
The first is the 17th annual Theological Conference put on by Sir Anthony Buzzard and Restoration Fellowship. It will be held at Simpsonwood Conference Center in Norcross, GA (transportation from the airport is provided). The conference starts in the early evening on Sunday, April 27th and ends at lunch on Wednesday, April 30th. Conference speakers include Sir Anthony Buzzard, Chuck Jones, Jesse Acuff, Sean Finnegan, possibly Alex Hall, possibly John Obelenus, and others. more information here
Last weekend 44 of us went to Camp Pinnacle to enjoy a few days of together away from the world. The theme of the weekend was “What We’re Living For” and the teachings centered around the Kingdom of God. We had a wonderful time focusing on this vital subject in Scripture and seeing how it effects even how we live our daily lives. Thankfully, John Smajda recorded the teachings for us and they are now available.

TWERT stands for Two Week Evangelism Road Trip. Myself, Josh, Sal, Joe, and Sean went through New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan preaching the Gospel and visiting the saints. It was a fantastic experience that I wouldn’t hesitate to do again. We saw so many circumstances driven by God that results in so many stories we could talk about it for hours and hours. There is nothing quite like going out and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom. Sure at first it is scary, then it is awkward, but after you’ve done it maybe fifty times - it is fun.

Each year Ken Westby of the Association for Christian Development organizes a conference with the aim of working out the theology involved in the biblical unitarian view of God. It is the first task of religion to define who God is. Even so, there remains much confusion in Christendom on this subject. Unfortunately, many times emotions get in the way of honest inspection and comparison between competing models of understanding who God is. Historically non-trinitarians have been persecuted, exiled, and even burned at the stake for refusing to accept the “orthodox” creed hammered out in Nicaea in 325ad. Ken Westby has written two brief articles on this [part 1] [part 2] which I highly recommend if you are curious about the One God subject.
