Who We Are
November 9th, 2006 by JohnO
We are just a bunch of God-fearing, Bible-believing people who want to make a difference. We want to see God’s people perform a mighty work - and we want to help it happen. Here are the active posters for KingdomReady. If you would like to access all of the articles authored by them, click their name below.

[Sunday] Jason Benedict was raised in baptist and bible church fellowships, by sincere God fearing reformed episcopal (Dad) and catholic (Mom) parents.. Having never really “felt” like I’d “done it” right, (getting saved by saying the sinner’s prayer and being baptized at 8 years old), rebelling in my early early teens to experience something “real” was only “natural”. After a span of debauchery that lasted about 10 years, my despair at my condition overwhelmed me to the point of giving in to the provoking and persuading of my recently converted cousin and brother to repent and submit to the righteous authority of God. I capitulated, repented and isolated myself from all “worldly-ness”, and proceeded to become a fine self righteous legalist! But self was all I knew! After +/-5 years, in a wonderful unnamed church of the pentecostal persuasion, of serving God feverishly, I burned out, having expended all resources..all my own strength. I don’t know how many hundreds of messages I had heard on Grace, it’s just there is so much “scale” on our hearts that has to be pierced through with the truth of the Gospel of the kingdom..Then, as if finally I’d given up the “reigns”, God saw fit to reach into the darkness that was my emptiness and bring me a wonderful godly wife and wonderful new son, and to a truly monotheistic church that i can comprehend the concepts of God and the relationship to God through Christ! I now hope to grow in firstly humility, meekness, Grace and the knowledge of the Love of our God, and then how to live out the life he’s prescribed for me..and us. I now realize we are BEING Born Again! How longsuffering wonderful is Our Living God!-Shalom in Messiah Yeshua.
[Monday] John Obelenus just wants to understand what was really going on in the first century. He has a passion for digging into the texts and history to understand what Jesus, James, and Paul would have sounded like to a Palestinian person in the first century. With that understanding, and coming to encounter God can we look like the first people called the “Church”. Looking at the world like Jesus did will have a serious impact on our lives. He lives and works in Boston with the hope and plan of getting a Master’s degree in Theology.
[Wednesday] Sean Finnegan was raised as a pastor’s son but never committed to Jesus until he had a radical conversion experience at nineteen. He has been serving God ever since. He has a bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from Rensselaer (RPI) as well as a bachelor’s in Theology from Atlanta Bible College. He now serves as the Associate Pastor of Living Hope Community Church near Albany, NY where he works with his father. He lives in Schenectady and has a beautiful and brilliant wife, Ruth, and two incredible children (Noah and Daniel). His aim is to be a cog in the machinery that God uses to get the gospel of the kingdom and the creed of Jesus out to all nations as a testimony (Mt 24.14; Mk 12.29).
[Thursday] From his earliest days in Christian ministry Stephen Cook fell in love with the Gospels and the teachings of Jesus. As a youth leader he taught a series on the life of Christ which went on for several years, and his fascination with Jesus’ teaching methods and the Jesus’ stories has been ongoing ever since. Most recently he has been involved with planting churches in Pakistan. He lives in Australia and is married with three daughters.
[Friday] Kyle Casey began seriously attending church about his freshman year of college and after experiencing God for the first time a few years later decided that it would be best to take Him seriously. He began attending Atlanta Bible College to further his education and is now interning at North Hills Church of God. He would like to consider himself a seeker of the truth that only God possesses. Currently he will receive his Bachelor’s Degree of pastoral ministry in May.
[Saturday] Ron Shockley comes from an Adventist heritage with a grandfather that was an early pioneer in the Oklahoma Advent Christian faith and a father that was a life-long devout Bible theologian. He accepted Christ and was baptized as an early teen at the campgrounds named after his grandfather, but drifted from his faith in early adulthood. Now for almost a decade he has been re-awakened with a passion for Biblical study and promoting the truth of Scripture in its Hebrew setting. He has degrees in Business Mgmt. & Multimedia Development and lives in Dallas working as a Software Engineer. He is married, and has one wonderful baby girl.

Question about Glad Tidings.
When did you go to the New American Standard Bible?
What happen to the King James Version?
why can’t we found the issues of the glad tidings
Thanks to all of you who are making this blog available! This can be a lonely walk and it’s a blessing to have another source to receive sound teachings from and be able to ask questions and make connections with other “Kingdom” believers.
I’m really enjoying Vince’s book “Change to Change”. It’s my new “workbook” that I carry with me.
All old Glad Tidings Articles can be found at kingdomready.org/gladtidings.php They are categorized by subject and you can look up a specific issue as well (at the bottom of the page)
or take a look at the current issue kingdomready.org/gladtidings/currentissue.pdf
Steph,
We’ve realized that the King James Version is not the best translation available. Since 1611 (the first KJV translation) many many more and earlier manuscripts have been found. We come to understand that the NASB is one of the best translations that are out there today. It uses the earliest and best manuscripts. It still retains markings as to what is inferred, but not directly stated in the text. And one of the most helpful changes is the use of current, modern-day english.
These are some of the reasons we use the NASB as our standard translation.
Im very much happpy that you made this blog. How can I read the current issue of glad tidings? The reason why I ask this, because of the deliveries are always two months late. God Bless!
Joel to read the current issue please click here
GOD BLESS
PLEASE KEEP MY NAME ON YOUR MAILING LIST SO I CAN RECEIVING GLAD TIDINGS .

Have you tried the New English Translation? I used the KJV for about 25 years before changing to the NET, and I’ve never looked back.
I enjoy the NET Bible much, especially the 60,000 plus notes. I especially enjoyed the footnotes on Genesis 1.26 and Isaiah 9.6. The whole Bible is accessible for free on www.bible.org
Ah yes, the footnotes in the Old Testament are excellent. They deal briskly and unsympathetically with the usual trinitarian ‘proof texts’, and acknowledge that the doctrine of the ‘immortal soul’ was never part of the teaching revealed to Israel.
Wow, I didn’t know they spoke on the immortal soul? What notes in particular? BTW, do you happen to know Greg Deuble?
Here’s a quick comparison of the KJV and NET. Note the differences in the language used:
King James Version:
* Devil: 57
* Devils: 48
* Hell: 56
* Satan: 49
* Soul: 473
New English Translation
* Devil: 34
* Devils: 0 (but ‘demons’ 40)
* Hell: 16
* Satan: 46
* Soul: 53
For the immortal soul, look at this:
Genesis 35 (KJV):
18 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.
Genesis 35 (NET):
18 With her dying breath, [37] she named him Ben-Oni.
[37]tn Heb “in the going out of her life, for she was dying.” Rachel named the child with her dying breath.
Note the use of ’soul’ in the the KJV to support the idea of an immortal soul departing, an error avoided by the NET, which is honest about what the text says.
Look at this:
Genesis 2 (NET):
7 The Lord God formed the man from the soil of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.[23]
[23]tn The Hebrew term vp#n\ (n\p#v, “being”) is often translated “soul,” but the word usually refers to the whole person. The phrase hY`j^ vp#n\ (n\p#v j^Y*h, “living being”) is used of both animals and human beings (see 1:20, 24, 30; 2:19).
There are a few more like that. You might be interested in this presentation.
No, I don’t know Greg Deuble, though I’m familiar with this work.
Sean,
I know Greg Deuble, although he lives about 600 miles from me. He’s a great bloke. He and I were both speaking recently at a Restoration Fellowship gathering in Brisbane.
Dear friends , (Psalm 119:63)
Time has come for Jehovah to work .Ps.119:126.
His work (in this days) is to send His prophet Elijah for , “to turn the heart of the fathers to the children , and the heart of the children to their fathers”. Malachi 4:5,6.
JEHOVAH God has sent one of His elected ones to do the work “in the spirit and the power of Elijah” Luke 1:17 .
Also , Elijah’s work is to “restore all things”. Matt.17:11.
His message means the “tidings out of the east and out of the north” that shall trouble the king of the north (man of lawlessnes) ! Daniel 11:44.
His message contains the understanding given through the Spirit of the truth (John 16:13) about the Beast and its “man number” 666 (Rev.13:18) !

I seen some praise given on the NET translation of the Bible. I have not much experience with it but find there translation of John 1:1 to be without integrity. This would probably indicate other such translational bias , though I cannot say this is for certain. Also wondering your oppinion on the WEB ” World English Bible”. Would love to see someone do a modern english equivalence of Rotherhams emphasized Bible as well.
In Christ’s precious name , Grey Yates
I dont know about the WEB, though it appears to be Catholic, having the apocrypha. Sean uses the NET sometimes, I hope he has a comment for you
Just out of curiosity, why are there no women in the “Who We Are”?
Ann,
This is just the current “line-up” of people who post for us at the time. In the past we have had several women (Alexandra, Mary Ann, and Erica) post for us. It just so happens that there aren’t any current women posters…
